Planning and municipal politics are inextricably linked. The way that the city is shaped is dependent on the attitudes and priorities of council, which are then translated into direction for city planning staff.

Voting for the HRM municipal election will soon be coming to a close. Among some of the most debated topics during this election season is the discussion of growth and development. The elected council will help to dictate if and how Halifax will continue to grow.
